Description
Under the general direction and supervision of the Director, College
Safety and Preparedness, insures the safety and protection of students, staff, faculty and visitors. Responds to calls for service and
related work as assigned. Performs duties related to maintaining the safety and security of facilities, grounds, materials and
equipment.
Examples of Duties
- Patrol the campus during assigned shift to ensure all
buildings, doors, and facilities are secure. - Report or eliminate potentially hazardous conditions.
- Report and investigate
incidents where college policies may have been violated. - Serve as observer, information conduit and reporter of
facts. - Patrol parking areas and enforce campus parking regulations.
- Respond to needed emergencies or alarms and coordinate
any necessary response until relieved by emergency personnel or campus administrator. - Take incident reports or complaints from
students, staff, faculty or visitors that occur on campus property. - Act as a liaison with emergency personnel during incidents on
campus. - Ensure that when campus closes that all buildings and doors are locked. When the campus is clear of all persons, assure that
the gate is locked and secured. - Monitor that all smoking policy guidelines are being followed and designated areas are being
used. - Assist with graduation activities and ceremonies.
- Assist visitors on campus when other employees are not
available. - Perform other duties as assigned.
Typical Qualifications
High School
Diploma or High School Equivalency, required.
A valid operator’s license is required to operate any vehicles belonging to the college.
Certified in first aid or CPR training, preferred. BLET/NCDPS training, preferred.
Additional Skills: Report Writing, to include the
proper use of grammar & punctuation. Strong oral/interpersonal communications. Collaborative conflict resolution. Emotional Maturity. Crowd
control/de-escalation knowledge/skills. Work effectively under stressful conditions. Establish and maintain effective working relationships
with those contacted in the performance of required duties.
Supplemental Information
Hours
will vary between Monday thru Friday 8:00am-10:00pm; Saturday 8:00am-8:00pm; Sunday 1:00pm-7:00pm, not to exceed 26 hours per week. Hours
are subject to change based on college needs.
Employee must be on campus at all times during required work schedule. Moderate
physical activity which may include frequent standing, walking; activities that may require full body exertion; some exposure to bodily
fluids; indoor/outdoor work environment.
