Work
Schedule:

6 hours per day between the hours of 8am and 5pm.


Rate of Pay:



This is a Part-Time
Support Staff position at grade 11, with an hourly pay rate of $18.00 to $23.63. The offer will be based on education and experience, in
alignment with the College’s compensation philosophy and the current Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA), if
applicable.

Job Summary:

An employee in this classification performs
work of moderate difficulty by providing quality care for the children of students, staff and faculty of the college. Work is defined by the
ability to plan and implement age-appropriate curriculum, maintain the classroom and keep accurate records of the center’s daily operations.
General supervision will be received from the assigned manager.



Required Knowledge, Skills &
Abilities:

  1. Associate’s degree (AA) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or equivalent combination of
    education and/or experience.
  2. Meet and maintain DCFS licensing requirements.
  3. Sixty semester hours (or 90 quarter hours) of
    credits from an accredited college or university with six semester or nine quarter hours in courses related directly to childcare and/or
    child development, from birth to age six;

or One year (1560 clock hours) of child development experience in a nursery school,
kindergarten, or licensed day care center and 30 semester hours (or 45
quarter hours) of credits from an accredited college or university
with six semester or nine quarter hours in courses related directly to child care and/or child development, from birth to age
six;


  1. Good knowledge of the State of Illinois licensing standards and regulations.
  2. Considerable skill in verbal and written
    communications.
  3. Ability to work a flexible schedule to meet the needs of the department including days, evenings, and
    weekends.

Essential
Duties:


  1. Provide age-appropriate and developmentally sound activities for children; engage children in
    activities.
  2. Provide appropriate care for children assisting them with any needs as they arise; foster good hygiene, including diaper
    changing, hand washing, etc.
  3. Provide a supportive role in eating habits; assist the children in eating, provide a clean, safe area
    for food consumption and appropriate portions of nutritious food; model the use of proper table manners, etc.
  4. Complete follow-up
    evaluations for each child, outlining cognitive, social, physical and emotional development.
  5. Regularly document children’s
    attendance, food intake and eating habits, medication distribution, fire/tornado drills, incidents and/or accidents involving children, to
    establish a record of the children’s physical, social and cognitive development and progress.
  6. Establish and maintain communications
    with parents regarding the progress of their children. Communicate any issues and work with parents to address them.
  7. Complete all
    necessary DCFS paperwork, as required.
  8. Assist in the creation and implementation of an age-appropriate curriculum designed for the
    developmental readiness of each child.
  9. Maintains required training, licensure and/or certification
  10. Maintains confidentiality
    of privileged information and adheres to applicable privacy laws
  11. Demonstrates sensitivity, understanding and respect of diverse
    populations within the workplace
  12. Maintains an understanding of the work of colleagues to effectively provide back-up and/or support
    for co-workers during times when the division is short-staffed or experiencing an increased volume of work
  13. Adheres to department
    guidelines for attendance and punctuality.
