Job Summary

The Assistant Vice Provost, Finance & Administration provides strategic leadership,
analysis, and operational direction for the institution and Academic Affairs units. This role enhances budgeting, forecasting, UTSA’s IRM
funding model, and operational processes while ensuring alignment between university-wide priorities and Academic Affairs unit operations.
Serving as a key advisor and institutional connector, the position strengthens decision-making, develops scalable financial and
administrative solutions, and supports effective, data-informed resource management across academic units.



Core
Responsibilities

  1. Serves as an Academic Affairs leader and institutional connector, supporting the alignment of
    institutional strategic priorities with unit-level finance and administration systems, processes, and policies to enable effective
    decision-making and efficient operations.
  2. Partners with Academic Affairs leadership, academic units, AA Finance and Administration,
    Institutional Research, Business Affairs, and other university stakeholders to develop analyses, scenarios, recommendations, and
    implementation options that inform strategic decision-making, resource allocation, enrollment-informed planning, forecasting, and long-range
    financial strategy.
  3. Supports IRM budget model development, execution, and improvement efforts to optimize funding allocation
    strategies. Strategizes with Deans and college leadership teams to forecast future impact and target growth opportunities for investments.
    Conducts best-practice benchmarking to best inform structures and approaches for the institution as well as individual units. Participates
    actively on the University Finance Team and other RCM budget model workgroups to support these and other efforts.
  4. Improves
    unit-level budget development and forecasting methodologies by developing analyses, tools, documentation, user feedback, and
    recommendations.
  5. Develops and implements scalable operational processes, dashboards, data models, reporting tools, training
    materials, and reference resources that improve efficiency, transparency, accountability, budget management, reconciliation practices,
    analytic capability, and consistency across Academic Affairs units.
  6. Leads cross-functional process improvement, change management,
    data governance, reporting infrastructure, workflow redesign, business process documentation, and systems integration initiatives. Guides
    deliverables, resolves implementation barriers, and escalates strategic decisions as appropriate. Ensures controls are in place to mitigate
    risks and ensure compliance with federal, state, system, and institutional policies and procedures.
  7. Prioritizes and resolves complex
    financial, administrative, data, and systems-related issues across Academic Affairs by analyzing situations, recommending solutions,
    communicating with affected parties, and following up to ensure satisfactory resolution and sustainable improvements that reduce recurring
    issues.
  8. Performs additional duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications


  • Bachelor’s Degree
    in a related field.
  • Seven (7) years of progressive related work experience.
  • This position may require the ability to
    maintain the security and integrity of UT San Antonio and its infrastructure per Texas EO-GA-48.

Working Conditions

  • Office environment. Ability to travel to and from meetings, training sessions, or other business-related events. Workdays, areas,
    and work hours may vary depending on the department’s needs.

Physical Demands


  • Jobs are sedentary;
    walking and standing are required only occasionally. Ability to exert up to 10 pounds of force to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move
    objects


This position will work both on campus and remotely in Texas. Travel and parking expenses are the
employee’s responsibility.


This position is contingent upon a successful background check. Verification of a valid driver’s
license and Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) may be completed as applicable. Applicants selected must be able to show proof of eligibility to work
in the United States by time of hire.
