Job Description

Provides first-line oversight and guidance to operational activities of a specific group of people. Monitors employee performance of assigned tasks and may be authorized to make employment related decisions regarding the employees in the department.

Responsibilities

  • Serves as a front-line Supervisor and directs the day-to-day activities. Ensures staffing needs of assigned buildings and analyzes workloads based on demands and peak seasons.
  • Regularly monitors and assesses job performance to ensure performance standards are met. Conducts regular staff meetings, provides ongoing feedback and coaching, and responds to employee concerns. Provides training and onboarding for all new hires including expectations setting, assigned job shadowing and regular feedback throughout the period of onboarding. Conducts regular training of all staff on all cleaning procedures, including products and equipment regularly utilized. May participate in the recruitment process as positions become available.
  • Responsible for daily equipment and inventory controls to include appropriate supplies for each building, securing of supplies and equipment, and ensuring all cleaning equipment is maintained in proper working condition. Assigns building keys to staff and ensures buildings are secured daily.
  • Compiles and manages various reports to include inventory, performance standard enhancements and work assignments. Submit daily shift reports on all pertinent activities occurring during the shift. Provides additional reports to management that includes monitoring of employee performance, training and attendance.
  • Meets with building clients to identify any cleaning issues and ongoing expectations. Performs routine inspections and makes necessary changes and adjustments in the work assignments based on building needs and demands.
  • Report any minor repairs completed by the team to management and any major repairs that are required to work control. Issues, tracks, verifies and closes work orders for assigned area and department.
  • Maintains compliance and enforces all policies, procedures and safety regulations and guidelines established by the department and university. Ensure safe work practices are adhered to. Stays abreast of specialized cleaning to include fogging and sanitizing buildings due to pandemics, disasters, etc., as specified by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


Qualifications

High school diploma or GED and two (2) years of supervisory experience with a minimum of one (1) year of custodial experience. Must possess and maintain a valid Driver’s License.
