The Johnny Carson School of Theatre & Film is a premier program in the Big Ten dedicated to nurturing the next generation of
performers, filmmakers and emerging media artists.

The Assistant to the Director provides high-level administrative and operational
support to ensure the effective functioning of the Johnny Carson School of Theatre and Film Director’s Office.



As the
Assistant to the Director, you will:

  • Provide high-level administrative support to the Director, managing calendars,
    communications, travel, scheduling, and office operations while serving as a key liaison with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Coordinate School meetings, events, special projects, and recruitment activities, including logistics, communications, materials
    preparation, and operational support.
  • Support administrative and/or curricular processes related to student engagement,
    recruitment, faculty support, and School operations across theatre, film, and emerging media arts programs.
  • Track and process
    expenses, travel, purchasing, and operational documentation while assisting with budget monitoring and administrative coordination.

This role requires professionalism, discretion, strong organizational skills, and proactive problem-solving to support the
daily operations and strategic priorities of the Johnny Carson School of Theatre and Film. In the UNL system, this position is categorized
as an Administrative Associate.

Minimum Qualifications:


·
Bachelor’s degree plus two (2) years of administrative support experience; OR

· Associate degree plus four (4) years of
administrative support experience; OR


· High school diploma or equivalency plus six (6) years of administrative support
experience. Equivalent education/experience considered.

· Strong organizational, customer service, communication, and interpersonal
skills.


· Demonstrated ability to support senior leadership.

· Strong computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft
Office Suite for email, documents, spreadsheets, and virtual meeting platforms such as Teams or Zoom.


Preferred Qualifications:

· Bachelor’s degree in arts administration, communication, business, or a related field.


· Experience working in an
academic or performing arts environment.

· Experience and proficiency with website maintenance (including HTML) and/or software
applications such as FileMaker Pro, CASHNet, SlideRoom, Mac OS, PeopleAdmin, MyRED, or similar programs.
