UCF IT within Facilities and Business Operations is the central information technology organization at the University of Central Florida, providing technology services and support to faculty, staff, and students. Reporting to the Vice President for Information Technology and Chief Information Officer, UCF IT comprises several key departments, including the Project Management Office (PMO) Infrastructure & Operations, Telecommunications, Enterprise Application Systems & Governance, Information Security, Instructional Resources, and Client Services. UCF IT collaborates with university stakeholders through governance frameworks and advisory committees to ensure alignment with UCF’s strategic goals. With a focus on innovation, security, and excellent service delivery, UCF IT supports the university’s mission of teaching, learning, research, and community engagement.



The Opportunity:

UCF IT seeks an Business Systems Analyst II for their Project Management Office. This role works with administrators, subject matter experts, and IT personnel to clarify project objectives, conduct business needs analysis, and provide clear, structured requirements for technology related initiatives and upgrades. Ensures IT projects and portfolios are aligned with UCF organizational objectives. Coordinates testing and requirements validation. Plans, manages, and ensures the proper implementation of projects related to business process changes and improvements. Evaluates, assesses, and designs the technical functions of various UCF business systems modules. The position helps ensure quality deliverables, including effective business processes and user experience.



Responsibilities:

  • Translates business objectives into system requirements.


  • Documents detailed project scope and requirements.

  • Designs systems to integrate and streamline business records for various UCF departments.


  • Facilitates implementation design, table development, data migration and maintenance.

  • Collaborates with end users to analyze, document, and develop workflows, process maps, and data diagrams.


  • Assists with configuration, testing, and implementation of system solutions.

  • Performs gap analysis and identifies needed process changes.


  • Evaluates customer business needs; identifies and documents business problem(s).

  • Evaluates and documents impact of proposed solution(s) on the organization’s operations.


  • Builds and maintains documentation templates.

  • Builds business process maps, portfolio roadmaps, and workflow diagrams.


  • Develops reports and dashboards to support project and portfolio management across the enterprise.

  • Coordinates documentation of test cases; facilitates and tracks user acceptance testing.


  • Documents necessary user, file, and object level security.

  • Assists with business case development, build vs. buy, feasibility, risk, and cost-benefit analyses.



  • Collaborates with business owners and subject matter experts to design and develop high quality business solutions and processes.

  • Consults with users and departments to evaluate, assess, and determine user functions.


  • Manages data, monitors interfaces, and assures compliance with applicable department regulations.

  • Designs, modifies, and executes specific queries.


  • Coordinates preparation of tests and loading of program patches and upgrades.

  • Serves as a liaison between end-users, technical experts, systems administrators, and programmers to ensure technology systems and software applications and modifications meet business needs.


  • Facilitates project intake, portfolio management, technology road maps, and reporting activities.

  • Performs other duties as required.



Minimum Qualifications:



Bachelor’s degree and 2+ years of relevant experience; or High School Diploma (or equivalent) and 6+ years of relevant work experience in lieu of degree, or an equivalent combination of education and experience pursuant to Fla. Stat. 112.219(6).


Preferred Qualifications:

We welcome candidates with any of the following:



  • Experience with business process modeling and improvement methodologies (e.g., BPMN, Lean, Six Sigma).


  • Proficiency in using business analysis tools and software (e.g., MS DevOps, Visio, Lucidchart).



  • 5+ years’ experience as a Business Analyst, with a significant portion of that experience within an IT environment.

  • Demonstrated experience working on complex projects, ideally within a large, matrix organization or institution of higher education.



  • Strong understanding of project management methodologies (e.g., Agile, Waterfall) and how business analysis integrates within them.

  • Experience with requirements management and traceability, ensuring alignment between business needs and technical solutions.


  • Bachelor or Master’s degree in a related field such as Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Administration or a relevant quantitative discipline.

  • Professional certifications such as CBAP (Certified Business Analysis Professional) or PMI-PBA (PMI Professional in Business Analysis).


  • Advanced Office 365 skills.


  • Experience with data analysis and reporting tools (e.g., SQL, Excel, Power BI).




The ideal candidate will possess the following qualities:

  • Exceptional communication skills (written and verbal), including the ability to present complex information clearly and concisely to both technical and non-technical audiences.


  • Excellent facilitation and elicitation skills, with experience leading workshops and stakeholder meetings with varied groups.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and translate it into actionable insights.


  • Ability to build and maintain strong working relationships with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.

  • A proactive and self-directed approach, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines effectively.



Special Instructions to the Applicants:

The anticipated salary range for this position is $64,518 and $75,000. The final salary will be determined based on the candidate’s qualifications, experience, and internal equity considerations.
