Description

UM Dining invites applications for a Cashier to provide guest services in the Lodge Dining Center during the academic year (10 months).

Examples of Duties and Responsibilities


  • Accurately use the POS (point-of-sale) terminal
  • Perform opening and closing tasks related to the Lodge operation
  • Open and maintain beverage stations, breakfast, deli, salad and soup station (no cooking)
  • Prep desserts and maintain the bakery case
  • Maintain a safe and sanitary work environment throughout the day
  • Provide oversight and training of students and temporary staff in the cashier area

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED or equivalent
  • Excellent communication and guest service skills
  • Must have the ability to maintain a positive attitude at all times, and be able to work within a very diverse work force
  • Ability to move throughout the operation as needed to perform tasks
  • Ability to effectively work independently and as a team member
  • Ability to lift materials from floor level to table height, which requires mobility and some physical demands

Preferred Qualifications


  • One-year (1) cashiering experience
  • Expert knowledge in operating a POS system
  • Expert knowledge and experience in food service, including guest experience and food presentation

Compensation Title: Culinary Associate I

Bargaining Unit: FOCUS-MFPE


Work Schedule: Full-time, 1.0 FTE (40 Hours a week), Hours vary due to needs of the unit, Academic Year (10 months/year, August through May)

Probationary Period: Six (6) months minimum
