Wilbur Wright College, one of the City Colleges of
Chicago, seeks a qualified Bursar Assistant III who will be responsible for supporting the operations of the Business
Office by performing a variety of financial, administrative, and customer service functions. This role involves processing student payments,
maintaining accurate financial records, assisting with billing and account inquiries, and ensuring compliance with institutional policies
and procedures. The Bursar Assistant III provides professional and timely assistance to students, faculty, and staff while maintaining a
high level of accuracy, confidentiality, and customer service. The position also includes responsibility for assisting students by
addressing financial questions, guiding them through payment processes, and helping resolve account-related issues in a courteous and
supportive manner.



DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:


1. Responsible for the same duties as the College Bursar
Assistant II.



2. Posts transactions involving cash receipts, disbursements, and/or accounts payable and accounts receivable to ledger
accounts.


3. Prepares trial balances and periodic summary statements to determine account balances; reconciles account balances with
bank statements; assists in the analysis of routine accounts and in the preparation of financial reports.



4. Maintains general ledger
and subsidiary ledger accounts for students receiving financial aid through various grant or loan programs.


5. Maintains cost
systems, allocating expenditures to accounts in accordance with established procedures.



6. Prepares summary sheets for use of
supervisor or auditors in preparing comprehensive financial statements.


7. Audits and proofs accounting or other reports for clerical
accuracy and conformance to departmental procedures.



8. Troubleshoots problems in student financial system.


9. Supervises
lower level College Bursar Assistants and support staff.



10. Responds to student inquiries regarding the status of their financial
aid grants or loans.


11. Assists in student registration activities.



12. Adheres to CCC Customer Service Excellence
standards.


13. Performs related duties as required.



QUALIFICATIONS


1. Associates Degree and a minimum
of 6 accounting courses at the college level; supplemented by 4-6 years of experience in general accounting work; or an equivalent
combination of training or experience.



2. Knowledge of basic accounting principles and techniques; knowledge of accounting and
auditing terminology and accounting software.


3. Ability to prepare and maintain accounting records and write simple financial
statements and reports.



4. Good written and verbal communication skills required.

Salary Information:


Salary Range: $61,136 – $64,193

Offered salary will be determined by the respective collective bargaining agreement and
applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities.



WORK SCHEDULE

  • Monday-Wednesday 9:00
    am to 5:00 pm
  • Thursday 10:00 am to 6:00 pm
  • Friday 9:00 am to 5:00 pm

Chicago residency is required for all full-time employees within 6 months of hire.
