Job Description:
SUNY Schenectady County Community College
seeks a full-time Coordinator of Student Financial Services. Reporting to the Associate Vice President of Student Financial Services, the
Coordinator of Student Financial Services is responsible for coordination of student billing, collection of accounts receivable, collection
of student Certificates of Residence, county chargeback billing, accurate student account maintenance, financial aid packaging, 1098T
issuance, and cash handling.
Supervisory Responsibility:
The incumbent has supervisory responsibilities of
clerical support staff and student workers.
Responsibilities:
- Safeguard and deposit all tuition, fees
and other monies collected throughout the College. - Act as a liaison with banking institutions in completing daily deposits and stop
payments. - Complete bank reconciliations as assigned.
- Assist students through the financial aid application and bill payment
process. - Collection of Financial Aid forms as necessary.
- Communicate effectively to students regarding their Financial Aid
status. - Perform actions necessary for annual 1098T reporting to students and the Internal Revenue Service.
- Coordinate the
chargeback billing to Counties. - Write/update procedures as necessary as they relate to area of responsibility.
- Assist in
internal and external audits. - Coordinate Third Party Sponsor and Cross Registration Billing, such as Access Vocational
Rehabilitation, and Veteran Affairs. - Work with the Registrar’s Office to ensure accuracy of student charges and
billing. - Send student communications regarding bill payment and submission of Certificate of Residence.
- Prepare and submit
reports to SUNY related to students without current Certificates of Residency. - Complete and work collaboratively with staff on
student account transactions to include student payment, collections and account reconciliation. - Work closely with students, parents
and staff to ensure the student’s financial obligation is met through use of financial aid or payment plan options. - Responsible for
administration of the College’s online payment platform process. - Ensure compliance with institutional policies, state and federal
regulations and SUNY guidelines. - May require hours outside of the normal working day.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications:
- Associate’s degree.
- Three (3) years of
related employment. - One (1) year of supervisory experience.
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with individuals
from a variety of backgrounds and perspectives. - Excellent customer service skills.
- Ability to organize, implement and
administer complex record keeping systems and procedures. - Understanding of FERPA and ability to use tact and discretion in handling
confidential information.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business
administration or related field. - Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and an understanding of Title IV regulations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

Salary: $50,000
