Custodial
Services supports campus operations by maintaining clean, safe, and functional facilities across Missouri S&T. The department works in
coordination with campus units to deliver daily custodial services, facility upkeep, and preparation of spaces for academic and operational
use.
Job Description
Supervises custodial staff. Spot-checks work frequently and reviews work for neatness,
cleanliness, efficiency and overall results.
- Performs routine tasks as assigned using existing procedures, practices, techniques,
etc. - Performs standard assignments and responsibilities and makes recommendations for improvement/efficiency, resourcing, etc., as
necessary - Uses existing procedures to solve standard problems and/or correct standard, routine issues
- Maintains and adheres
to project schedules and budgets - Has limited impact on own work team
- Works within standardized procedures and practices to
achieve objectives and meet established deadlines - Exchanges information in a straightforward manner
- Develop working
relationships with related, internal teams/parties
Key Responsibilities
Supervision:
- Assess and organize daily workload for assigned buildings and custodial staff
- Regularly assign, instruct and
monitor work for adherence to desired cleanliness standards and safety practices - Train and instruct new employees in proper cleaning
techniques - Verbally address performance deficiencies and report any issues to manager for possible disciplinary
actions
Customer Service:
- Ensure customer needs are being met, including faculty, guests, staff and
students - Respond to questions, resolve complaints, and trouble shoot problems
Operations:
- Inspect assigned areas to ensure cleanliness and safety expectations are met
- Assist in identifying maintenance
or repair needs and enter work requests in TMA system - Maintain assigned area inventory, order and distribute custodial equipment and
supplies, and monitor the use and care of assigned equipment and supplies - Work with department timekeepers and managers for staff
time and labor accuracy - May participate in interviews for hiring hourly employees
Safety:
- Prioritize safety with assigned staff and buildings, and aid in general safety of campus environment
- Train
staff in safe work practices, such as safe use of cleaning chemicals and equipment - Follow procedures with reporting staff accidents
and injuries - Monitor assigned building security and report any access control issues
- Report potential safety problems, and
aid staff during emergency procedures, such as fire alarms, severe weather, campus threats, etc. - Actively participate in safety
training
Shift
Monday-Friday, 7:00am-3:30pm
Minimum Qualifications
An
Associate’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 4 years of experience from which comparable knowledge
and skills can be acquired is necessary.
Preferred Qualifications
- Proficient computer skills to operate
various programs used within the department, such as Microsoft Office - Ability to complete technical training within department scope
to meet business needs - Prior supervisory or leadership experience with proven abilities to lead a team
- Prior work experience
displaying evidence of initiative, responsibility, and professionalism - Ability to occasionally work outside of a regular shift to
meet business needs
Anticipated Hiring Range
The anticipated hiring range for this position has been
established as $19.25-$26.87 hourly.
Salary is determined by a variety of factors, including but not limited to, the individual’s
particular combination of education, skills, and experience, as well as organizational requirements.
