Responsibilities:


The Database Administrator at the Informatics Research Institute at the University
of Louisiana at Lafayette is responsible for the administration, maintenance, security, and performance of database systems. This position
provides technical expertise in database architecture, data integrity, backup and recovery, performance optimization, and database security
to ensure the availability, reliability, and efficient operation of critical business data.
The Database Administrator reports to the
Chief Technology Officer of the Informatics Research Institute. This is an on-site position in Lafayette, Louisiana.

Duties and
Responsibilities:


  • Provide primary database architectural and administrative support (Data Modeling, Attribution,
    Referential Integrity, and Database Security).
  • Evaluate, and recommend changes to the database environment based on analysis of the
    monitoring effort.
  • Oversee the physical database design including physical file characteristics, backup and recovery requirements,
    security requirements and physical space requirements dictated by the database design.
  • Supervise the installation and testing of
    DBMS software; create and manage database objects – schemas, views, tables, stored procedures, triggers, partitioning, cluster, and indexing
    strategies.
  • Provide the audit ability of the database to ensure data integrity, detection of missing data, late transaction
    reporting, and untimely error correction.
  • Evaluate and complete conversion from one database to another database (structure and
    data).
  • Conduct backup and recovery via Image Copy, Flashcopy, etc.; reorganize databases.
  • Conduct performance monitoring and
    tuning.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.


Qualifications:

Required
Qualifications:


  • Three (3) plus years advanced DBA experience primarily focused on MS SQL Server. Experience should
    include routine maintenance, managing user permissions, running backups; writing, debugging, and optimizing complex SQL queries; and
    database migrations.
  • Five (5) plus years’ experience with T-SQL, SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS), and database maintenance
    plans.
  • Five (5) plus years’ experience with Microsoft SQL Server.
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer
    Science, Management Information Systems (MIS), or related.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge and
    experience with DB2, Oracle, ADABAS, Microsoft Access, PostgreSQL, and VSAM.
  • A graduate degree in Information Technology, Computer
    Science, Management Information Systems (MIS), or related.
  • Experience working on a development team.
  • Experience with client
    engagements on design, delivery, deployment and on-going maintenance.
  • Previous experience working in an Agile/Scrum
    environment.
