The Executive Assistant to the Vice President for Student Affairs and Dean of Students plays a vital role
in supporting students and advancing the work of the Student Affairs division. This highly collaborative position is ideal for an organized,
resourceful, and service-oriented professional who enjoys meaningful work, varied responsibilities, and interaction with students, families,
and colleagues across the university. Serving as a trusted first point of contact, the Executive Assistant helps students and families
navigate personal or institutional concerns, connects them with appropriate resources, and contributes to solutions that support student
success and wellbeing. The position provides comprehensive administrative and operational support to the Vice President, including managing
a complex calendar, coordinating communication and projects, overseeing office budgets and purchasing, and maintaining confidential records
and processes related to student conduct, Honor Code matters, excused absences, health compliance, and medical leaves of absence. The
Executive Assistant works closely with offices throughout the university, including Admission, the Registrar, Student Financial Services,
Technology Services, Residence Life, and Public Safety, and has opportunities to contribute to divisional professional development efforts
and serve on university committees. This position offers the opportunity to become an integral member of a dynamic Student Affairs team and
to make a meaningful difference in the experiences of students and families.
Responsibilities
- Provide
professional administrative support to the Vice President for Student Affairs/Dean of Students - Assist students in identifying
helpful resources to address concerns reported to the office - Work collaboratively with other departments across the university on
various projects and solutions to student concerns - Manage database, reports, correspondence, and logistical support related to
student conduct hearings, honor code violations, excused absences, health compliance, medical leaves of absence under the direction of the
VPSA/Dean of Students - Manage the VPSA/Dean of Students calendar and delegate relevant concerns to other offices as appropriate
- Serve as a key member of the professional development committee for the division
- Oversee budget processes and purchasing for
the office - Serve on university committees
- Serve as a first point of contact for family members and students for direction
in dealing with personal issues that affect their educational goals or experience - Liaise with the offices of admission, registrar,
student financial services, technology services, housing, and public safety as it relates to student services and support
Requirements/Qualifications/Skills
- Minimum 1 – 3 years professional experience in administrative support
with emphasis on customer/student-facing experience. - Experience with Microsoft software is essential including excel, word,
database management, etc. - A successful candidate must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- The
ability to exercise good judgment, make independent decisions, maintain confidentiality, and be resourceful are paramount to the success of
this position. - A positive and professional attitude is essential for this position.
- Previous experience supporting an
office and/or executive leader is desired (but not required).
