Strong organizational, communication, and collaboration skills. Employed by a high school participating in the Temple College DualFlex program.
Work Schedule:
This is an on-site position. Essential duties of the role must be performed in-person during prescribed work hours aligned with the high school instructional schedule and DualFlex class meeting times.

SUMMARY:
The DualFlex College Mentor is a certified high school teacher who serves as the on-campus student success partner for high school students enrolled in Temple College DualFlex courses. Working collaboratively with the Temple College Instructor of Record (IOR), Dual Credit Enrollment Advisors, counselors, and campus personnel, the DualFlex College Mentor provides in-person support that promotes student engagement, academic success, college readiness, and persistence.The DualFlex College Mentor reinforces college-level expectations while helping students develop executive functioning skills, self-advocacy, time management, organization, and independent learning habits. This role supports students in navigating the college learning environment while maintaining the rigor, integrity, and expectations of Temple College coursework.

CERTIFICATION OR LICENSES:
- Valid Texas teaching certification in the DualFlex subject area served.
- Completion of D2L navigation and student support training through the Temple College DualFlex Summer Academy.
- Participation in a one-half day planning and orientation meeting with the assigned IOR.
- Signed acknowledgment of the DualFlex Handbook.
- Dual Flex Course Mentor Performance Expectations and Role Parameters.
- Job Duties and Responsibilities

The incumbent will:
Student Support and Engagement:
- Be present and actively engaged during all scheduled DualFlex class periods.
- Facilitate structured class time using the weekly instructional guide provided by the IOR).
- Assist students in understanding course expectations, navigating D2L, and managing assignment deadlines.
- Reinforce academic behaviors including time management, study skills, note-taking, self-advocacy, and independent learning.
- Encourage student accountability and responsibility for college-level coursework.
- Identify students experiencing academic or engagement challenges and communicate concerns promptly to the IOR.
- Maintain a productive, college-appropriate classroom environment during DualFlex sessions.
- Facilitate classroom discussions as directed by the IOR.
- Show multimedia instructional materials assigned by the IOR.
- Provide supplemental high school-level scaffolding materials for state assessment support or instructional reinforcement purposes. Such materials shall supplement, never replace, college-level curriculum and shall not factor into the student’s college grade.
- Refer students to Temple College academic support resources, including tutoring, library services, advising, and student support services as appropriate.
Communication and Collaboration
- Communicate regularly with the IOR, Dual Credit Enrollment Advisors, counselors, and other appropriate stakeholders.
- Participate in required weekly planning meetings with the IOR.
- Provide weekly student performance updates that include attendance, participation, engagement, and academic concerns while adhering to FERPA requirements.
- Share student concerns and support needs promptly with the IOR when situations require attention prior to scheduled meetings.
- Collaborate with school counselors in accordance with ISD procedures.
- Support communication efforts that promote student success.
Attendance and Participation Tracking
- Track student attendance and participation during all in-person class sessions.
- Maintain accurate participation and engagement records as required.
- Monitor student engagement and communicate patterns of concern to appropriate personnel.
Assessment and Academic Support
- Assist with assessment logistics as directed by the IOR.
- Support examination administration, technology setup, testing procedures, and assignment submission processes.
- Reinforce academic integrity standards and report suspected cheating, plagiarism, or misconduct to the IOR
- Support rigor and high expectations without reducing course standards or modifying college-level requirements.
Collaboration with Instructor of Record (IOR)
- Attend and actively participate in required weekly planning meetings with the IOR.
- Provide weekly student performance updates that include attendance, participation, engagement, and academic concerns.
- Communicate proactively with the IOR regarding student needs that exceed the scope of classroom support.
- Follow the instructional roadmap established by the IOR.
- Seek approval prior to introducing supplemental materials or instructional activities.
- Assist with assessment logistics including proctoring, technology setup, testing support, and assignment submission procedures as directed by the IOR.
- Coordinate the transfer and management of physical instructional materials between the college and high school campus when applicable.
Professionalism and Compliance
- Maintain fidelity to the college curriculum as designed by the IOR.
- Uphold student privacy in compliance with FERPA, institutional policies, and ISD regulations.
- Model professional, college-appropriate conduct and expectations for students.
- Attend all required DualFlex professional development sessions, meetings, and certification activities.
- Maintain documentation as required by the Temple College Dual Credit Office and ISD administration.
- Report incidents of cheating, plagiarism, or academic misconduct to the IOR promptly.
- Avoid excessive coaching, proofing, or editing of student work that compromises academic integrity.
- Refrain from any actions that violate the rigor or integrity of the college course.
Shared Communication Expectations
- Participate in required weekly planning meetings with the IOR. These meetings are mandatory and documented by the IOR.
- Communicate urgent student concerns promptly rather than waiting for scheduled meetings.
- Support communication efforts regarding student success while ensuring all communication remains FERPA compliant.
Role Boundaries
The following actions fall outside the scope of the DualFlex College Mentor and are prohibited:
- Assigning or adjusting grades.
- Modifying course content, assessments, or learning outcomes without IOR approval.
- Making independent decisions regarding academic accommodations or exceptions.
- Representing oneself as the IOR.
- Submitting grades or academic evaluations in D2L or Temple College systems.
- Engaging in actions that compromise academic integrity, course rigor, or college standards.
