Description



SIU Carbondale’s Office of Information Technology is growing its capabilities! We support the business needs of Higher Education at SIU, our President’s Office, and our Foundation and Alumni Association offices, as well as our other system campuses at Springfield (SIU School of Medicine) and Edwardsville. To achieve this, we manage a variety of legacy and contemporary tools and services and are committed to upgrading our delivery of services through continuous improvement.
The ERP Analyst II plays a key role in the configuration, administration, and ongoing support of the University’s enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems. This position is responsible for ensuring the reliability, security, and optimal performance of the ERP environment, which supports essential academic, financial, and operational functions across campus. The analyst provides day to day technical expertise, troubleshoots system issues, and performs routine maintenance to sustain stable system operation.
In this role, the ERP Analyst II collaborates closely with functional departments, technical teams, and external partners to translate business needs into effective system solutions. The position participates in system enhancements, module updates, integrations, and process improvements to ensure that the ERP platform evolves with organizational requirements. The analyst also assists in developing documentation, training users, and maintaining data integrity and compliance within the system. Through proactive analysis and problem-solving, the ERP Analyst II contributes to the continuous improvement of university processes and the overall efficiency of campus operations.

Examples of Duties

System Administration & Configuration


  • Configure and maintain ERP modules, components, and related applications to support institutional business processes.
  • Perform routine administrative tasks including environment monitoring, user setup, role/permission management, and workflow configuration.
  • Assist with installation and validation of patches, releases, and vendor updates in coordination with senior administrators.
  • Maintain accurate system documentation, configuration records, and procedural guidelines.

Operational Support & Troubleshooting

  • Investigate and resolve system errors, access issues, configuration problems, and workflow failures.
  • Collaborate with developers, database administrators, and business analysts to diagnose more complex issues and ensure timely solutions.
  • Submit and track vendor support tickets when needed and assist in implementing recommended fixes.

Data Quality, Security & Compliance


  • Support data validation activities, system audits, and routine quality checks to ensure the accuracy and reliability of ERP data.
  • Maintain adherence to University security standards, including management of user access, roles, and permissions.

Testing, Documentation & Process Improvement

  • Participate in testing activities for patches, configuration changes, and new functionality, documenting results and issues.
  • Support end users through documentation, training materials, knowledge-base contributions, and workflow guidance.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline processes, reduce errors, and enhance system usability.

Collaboration & Customer Support


  • Provide excellent customer service to campus stakeholders, ensuring timely communication and issue resolution.
  • Work collaboratively with functional offices (HR, Finance, Student, etc.) to understand business needs and support system-based solutions.
  • Assist in ERP-related projects, upgrades, and implementations under the direction of senior team members.


Qualifications



1. High school diploma or equivalent.
2. Any one or any combination totaling two (2) years (24 months) from the following categories:



A. College course work which includes Information Systems Technologies (IST), Information Technology (IT), Computer Science (CS), Programming, IT Management, or business-related discipline, including coursework in application development, programming, or database technologies, as measured by the following conversion table or its proportional equivalent:

  • 30 semester hours equals one (1) year (12 months)
  • Associate’s Degree (60 semester hours) equals eighteen months (18 months)
  • 90 semester hours equals two (2) years (24 months)
  • Bachelor’s Degree (120 semester hours) equals three (3) years (36 months)


B. Work experience in application development, application support, or business analysis.



3. The following experience can be concurrent with qualification 2B and concurrent with one another.

  • Must possess 6 months or more experience configuring, monitoring, or supporting business applications or databases.
  • Must possess 6 months or more experience troubleshooting, database administration, or and application support.

Based on position requirements, additional education, training, and/or work experience in the area of specialization inherent to the position may be required.

Illinois Residency Requirement: Pursuant to the State Universities Civil Service System, out-of-state candidates must establish Illinois residency within 180 calendar days of the start date for this position.

About Civil Service Examination/Testing: The Civil Service examination for this classification is based on your application materials and responses to the supplemental questions. No participation other than submission of application materials is required from applicants that qualify to take the exam. If you meet the minimum required qualifications for this position, your application will move forward for examination/testing in which you will receive a score calculated based on your education and experience, and your name will be placed on the active employment register by exam score.
