Job
Description:

The Maintenance Technician III ? Plumber is responsible for the installation, maintenance, repair, and inspection of
plumbing systems and related equipment throughout the university campus. This position ensures that all plumbing infrastructure operates
safely, efficiently, and in compliance with applicable codes and regulations. The successful candidate will support the university’s mission
by providing exceptional service to students, faculty, staff, and guests.



Responsibilities:

  • Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair commercial and residential plumbing systems.
  • Repair and replace water lines,
    drain lines, valves, fixtures, pumps, water heaters, and related plumbing equipment.
  • Diagnose plumbing issues and determine
    appropriate corrective actions.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on plumbing systems and equipment.
  • Respond to emergency
    plumbing calls, including water leaks, clogged drains, and system failures.
  • Inspect plumbing systems for compliance with local,
    state, and federal regulations.
  • Maintain accurate records of work performed, materials used, and preventative maintenance
    activities.
  • Assist with campus renovation and construction projects as assigned.
  • Coordinate with contractors and vendors
    when necessary.
  • Support other maintenance trades during peak workloads or emergency situations.
  • Maintain a safe work
    environment and follow all university safety policies and procedures.
  • Participate in on-call rotation and after-hours emergency
    response as required.

Requirements:

Minimum Requirements:


  • High school diploma or
    equivalent.
  • Journeyman Plumber license preferred or equivalent documented experience.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of
    commercial plumbing experience.
  • Working knowledge of plumbing codes, regulations, and industry standards.
  • Ability to read
    blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings.
  • Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to operate
    tools, equipment, and vehicles required for the position.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to
    prioritize multiple tasks and respond effectively to emergencies.
  • Excellent communication and customer service
    skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Knowledge of occupational safety practices and
    procedures

Preferred Requirements:

  • Experience working in educational, healthcare, or
    institutional facilities.
  • Backflow certification is a plus.
  • Experience with steam systems, boilers, and hydronic
    systems.
  • Experience with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).

Physical
Requirements:


  • Ability to lift and carry up to 75 pounds.
  • Ability to climb ladders, work in confined spaces,
    and perform duties at various heights.
  • Ability to frequently stand, walk, bend, kneel, crawl, and work outdoors in varying weather
    conditions.
  • Ability to respond to emergency situations during evenings, weekends, and holidays when required.
