Job Summary/Basic Function


The Packing House Coordinator
(PHC) is a full-time farm-based position that oversees the daily needs and activities of the College Farm’s produce handling, washing,
packaging and distribution. This, in addition to managing the farm’s value-added product line, including canning, freezing, and making
prepared foods for sale at established markets.
The Packing House Coordinator (PHC) oversees the daily needs and activities of the
farm’s produce washing, packing, handling, storage, inventories, and invoicing with the aim of increasing the volume of produce sold to
campus and local outlets. The PHC manages the farm’s value-added product line including canning and freezing vegetables, as well as prepping
prepared foods for key farm events. As a member of the farm team, the PHC will regularly engage with farm customers, local farmers, and
Dining Services staff to ensure orders are filled and customer satisfaction.

Additionally, the PHC will help to establish and
maintain a clean, safe, and organized workspace, as well as enforce food safety standards to ensure the highest quality product is delivered
to end users. Frequent oversight and enforcement of food safety guidelines is required. Additionally, the PHC will be required to supervise
staff, specifically farm apprentices and students who assist with operations in the Packing House.



As the season and timing permit,
special projects will be assigned to the PHC. These may include assisting with mowing, kitchen support at the farm’s Farm Works operation,
help with field work, as well as new farm product item production.

The PHC position requires keen organizational and time management
skills, in addition to a strong work ethic and teamwork mentality. Successful applicants will have demonstrated experience managing others,
leadership skills, experience in physically engaging work, an aptitude for maintaining high quality standards plus a sincere interest in the
work of the College Farm. Candidates must be in good physical condition, able to lift 50 lbs. repeatedly without risk of injury, and able to
work on their feet for the bulk of the day.
