JOB DESCRIPTION AND
POSITION REQUIREMENTS



Penn State Abington is searching for up to five (5) part-time STEM Academy Instructors for an in-person
math and science based high school program at a community organization in Northeast Philadelphia. The instructors will be responsible for
providing pre-designed content in a singular STEM field (Engineering, Math, Physics, IST, Computer Science) to a group of high school
students in out-of-school programming. Project activities will occur between September 2026 and June 2027, with
opportunities to extend project participation into later semesters. Program activities take place between 4:00 p.m. to 8:00
p.m.
on most weekdays. Instructors will generally work 6 hours per week. Hourly compensation for this opening is between
$30-40/hour for qualified college students or recent graduates.



Job Duties

  • Work collaboratively with teaching
    assistants to deliver STEM based instruction, activities, and labs for high school students.
  • Follow and revise written instructions
    and supporting materials for all STEM activities.
  • Provide weekly updates, reports, and materials to STEM Faculty
    Coordinator.
  • Communicate regularly with fellow STEM team members and Faculty Coordinator to ensure proper content and problem
    solving.

Requirements and Qualifications


  • Timely completion of job responsibilities and taking initiative to
    resolve problems.
  • Proficiency within at least one STEM area of interest (Engineering, Math, Physics, IST, Computer Science) or
    Education (5th semester students or higher preferred).
  • Ability to understand instructions and work independently as well as
    collaboratively on tasks.
  • Current or former Penn State Abington student (preferred).

BACKGROUND
CHECKS/CLEARANCES

This position requires the following clearances in addition to applicable background checks: PA State Police
Criminal Background Check, PA Child Abuse History Clearance Form, and Federal (FBI) Fingerprint Criminal Background Check.
