Position Summary


The Part Time
Professional Nursing Tutor provides small-group and 1:1 tutoring in essential Nursing classes, including but not limited to: Anatomy and
Physiology I and II, Nursing Chemistry, Mocrobiology & Genetics, and more. The Part Time Professional Nursing Tutor uses a strong foundation
in nursing theory, academic best practices, and universal design to present information to students with various learning styles and
supports students with effective study and test taking strategies. This role will also involve mentoring of our undergraduate peer nursing
tutors in collaboration with the Associate Director of Tutoring Services.

This position is housed under academic support through the
Office of the Provost, and will also collaborate closely with Nursing College constituents such as the Nursing Student Success and Retention
Advisor, the Nursing Student Success Coach, and the Director of Traditional Nursing Undergraduate Studies.


This is a 9-month,
part-time position
which provides flexible and adaptable scheduling and modality options to best meet the needs of our nursing
students whose clinical and lab schedules may change with little notice. To meet these evolving needs, the role includes adaptable
scheduling and a mix of in-person and virtual modalities. As part of this flexibility, the position will require weekly evening hours to
ensure timely and effective student support.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • 1:1 and small-group tutoring hours Provide 1:1 and
    small group weekly hours of tutoring for students in essential Nursing courses Manage scheduling needs to accommodate changes in nursing
    student schedules (includes subbing in for undergraduate tutors when mandatory Nursing College events effect their tutoring hours) Complete
    post-session record keeping Advertise services of the center through class visits and participation in tabling events
  • Collaboration and Communication Monthly check-in meetings with College of Nursing constituents Bi-weekly check-ins with
    Associate Director of Tutoring Services
  • Working with undergraduate peer tutors when appropriate Take part in relevant professional
    development

Minimum Qualifications


Formal Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in
    nursing.


Work Experience

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience with tutoring or teaching relevant content in an
    educational setting.
  • Work Skills (e.g., written, and verbal communication skills)
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate
    effectively and interact positively with students, faculty, and staff.
  • Strong organizational skills, time management, and attention
    to detail.


Specific Job Knowledge (e.g., knowledge of principles and procedures related to field and
area)

  • Working knowledge of computer systems including Microsoft Teams


Other:

  • Enthusiastic about
    student success and nursing education.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, in order to meet student scheduling
    needs.

Preferred Qualifications

Formal Education


  • Master’s degree in nursing or nursing
    education.


Work Experience

  • Experience in teaching, tutoring, or providing academic support in a higher education or
    clinical education environment.
  • Experience in health settings outside acute care.


Work Skills (e.g., written, and verbal
communication skills)


  • Demonstrated ability to develop and deliver educational programming.
  • Skilled in academic coaching and
    mentoring.


Specific Job Knowledge (e.g., knowledge of principles and procedures related to field and area)

  • Knowledge and
    understanding of Villanova’s curiculum and University resources.
  • Understanding of best practices in student coaching, learning
    strategies, and academic support programming.

Salary Posting Information



This position falls within hourly grade 12 and
the range is $28.73-$30.33. The final salary will be determined with consideration of several factors including the selected candidate’s
qualifications, department budget availability, market data, and internal equity.
