Position Announcement
This position is a .74 time position for an energetic, creative, and well-organized library public services team member. The position includes being a part of the Interlibrary Loan team, Technology circulation support, support for coordination and training of student-workers in the circulation area and provides backup support as needed.
Responsibilities
- Provides direct service to patrons at the Circulation desk, uses Library Information Systems, and maintains the student technology rental programs (Laptops, Virtual Reality Headsets, iPads).
- In coordination with the Circulation team, assists with the interviewing, training, and supervision of student workers.
- Collect statistics on building use.
- Assists the Interlibrary Loan coordinator with borrowing and lending activities.
- Responsible for emergency response duties related to library operations.
- Ideal schedule of Monday-Thursday 11am-6pm or Tuesday-Friday 11am-6pm
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Associate degree required or equivalent library and/or work experience. Experience in training, supervision and public services is preferred.
- Experience with customer service.
- Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills.
- Type at least 60 wpm.
- Effective use of Microsoft Office software, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Google Suite, Zoom, and social media platforms.
- Exercise critical human relations skills in establishing and maintaining effective working relations with library colleagues, students, faculty, staff, and the public.
- Flexibility, multitasking, and the ability to prioritize tasks.
- Must be able to work independently.
- Accuracy and the ability to handle detailed procedures and activities.
- Must be able to lift or move 30 pounds of books or similar material.
- Required to work evening hours.
PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Prior experience with the Adobe Suite, KOHA, and Canvas learning management software.
- Prior library experience.
- Supervisory and personnel management skills.
