Position
Description

Performs responsible and complex duties associated with a specialized function of a section of clerical employees. Duties
may be generally described as planning, assigning, coordinating, directing, scheduling, evaluating, verifying, training, and processing of
information. Thorough knowledge of policies, procedures, and methods for the area of responsibility is required. Initiative and independent
judgments are frequently exercised in formulating procedures or methods, and in program coordination. Work is performed under general
supervision within University policies and procedures. Job performance is based on overall operational
effectiveness.

Major/Essential Functions
Providing staff support to the Immigration Law Clinic and the Veterans Law
Clinic.


Receptionist duties which include, but are not limited to, answering incoming telephone calls and forwarding to appropriate
faculty, staff, or students or taking appropriate messages and forwarding as necessary. Greeting clients, visitors, and faculty in addition
to assigning ePermits as necessary. Ensuring all outgoing mail is placed in adequate envelopes and mailed in a timely
manner.

Providing information to clients when necessary and making appropriate referrals to other departments or agencies. Assisting
with screening of potential clients. Setting up, maintaining, and closing client files (whether hard copy or OneNote) in addition to running
conflict of interest search on client database, entering new client and student information on database. Scheduling and assigning interview
rooms for client appointments. Maintaining the master calendar of client appointments, deadlines, and hearing dates, as well as schedules of
student office hours. Assisting the Unit Manager of the Clinical Programs in overseeing the day-to-day operations of the clinical programs
to ensure that we have all that is necessary to run an efficient and effective clinical program.



Assisting with any other duties as
may be assigned by supervising faculty and/or the Unit Manager.

Required Qualifications
A minimum of a high school diploma
or the equivalent. Three years progressively responsible clerical experience. Additional education and/or related experience to equal three
years may substitute on a year for year basis.



Preferred Qualifications
Ability to use and/or learn to use databases
(document manager and timekeeping data bases); Ability to work independently and comfortably in a support capacity with supervisor, law
clinic directors, staff and students. Knowledge of law firm operations; Bilingual – Spanish speaking preferred. Professional phone
etiquette. Ability to work under pressure and with various personalities.

Range

$17.69 – $22.98 – $28.32
