Position Information
The Senior Systems Integration Engineer in Information Technology
Solutions (ITS) will specifically support the UCR School of Medicine and UCR Health. Applying expert-level, organization-wide systems and
software integration expertise, this position will be responsible for defining a strategy, engineering, and delivering the technological
backbone that powers our higher education and healthcare organization’s operations, patient care, and innovation. This role will direct the
design and deployment of the most complex integration solutions-spanning vendor, community-source, and locally developed hardware and
software systems-that directly support clinical services, administrative functions, and digital health initiatives. Serving as a recognized
subject matter expert at the location and within the industry, the incumbent will represent department and institutional IT on
location-wide, institution-wide, and systemwide committees, contribute to the technical direction and architecture for technology across one
or more specialties, and ensure all engineering practices and deployed systems adhere to strict healthcare regulations, data privacy
standards, and cybersecurity best practices. This position is classified as hybrid with occasional visits to health care clinics as needed.
Hybrid schedule will likely be 2-3 days on-site and schedule will be discussed and agreed upon between the successful candidate and
supervisor. The full salary range for the System Integration Engineer is $126,700 – $248,700 annually. However, the pay scale for this
position is up to$165,000 annually. We base salary offers on a variety of considerations, such as education, licensure and certifications,
experience, and other business and organizational needs. Applicants must have current work authorization when accepting a UCR staff
position. Currently, UCR is unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa for staff. As a University employee, you will
be required to comply with all applicable University policies and/or collective bargaining agreements, as may be amended from time to time.
Federal, state, or local government directives may impose additional requirements.
Requirements
Education Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in related area and/or
equivalent experience/training.
Experience
- Minimum of 8-10 years of experience
- Minimum of 5 years
working in a healthcare environment.
Minimum Requirements
Experience with highly complex multi-platform
troubleshooting in a multi-platform environment. Experience with identification and use of code libraries and open-source forums.
Demonstrated ability to identify software and hardware interdependences in a highly complex multi-platform environment. Experience
developing and implementing complex/interdependent project plans. Excellent written and verbal communication skills Strategy Development
including roadmaps for key technologies Demonstrated ability to create software specfications. Expert knowledge and experience with
monitoring tools, performance, system optimization, including advanced knowledge of security for data, data transfers and systems.
Demonstrated ability to develop solutions for highly complex business and systems/custom/ad-hoc solutions. Demonstrated ability to
understand functional needs of the campus/medical center/UC system and how systems can support those needs. Demonstrated ability to
interface with all levels of technical and non-technical management on a regular basis. Expert knowledge of systems integration deploying
highly complex systems integration solutions. Ability to impart knowledge to all levels of technical and non-technical audiences and to
influence outcomes to meet objectives. Experience with planning for deployment and creation of feedback mechanisms. Expert skills associated
with system integration design, modification, implementation and deployment for highly complex enviroments. Demonstrated ability to develop
highly complex conversion and system implementation plans. Experience researching and evaluating new technology and solutions for the most
complex environments.

Responsibilities
- Creates strategy, directs, plans, designs, develops, modifies, and deploys highly complex systems
integration solutions that have broad, location-wide, institution-wide, and/or multi-institutional impact, engineering the most complex and
advanced solutions to integrate vendor, community-source, and locally developed hardware and software systems and subsystems into a cohesive
implementation. Translates clinical, administrative, and digital health business needs of the UCR School of Medicine and UCR Health into
scalable, compliant technical architectures that achieve an integrated implementation. - Directs or oversees analysis of potential
products during early project phases to identify and achieve high level system integration objectives and determines/presents
recommendations. Identifies, evaluates, determines and directs implementation changes to existing tools, or new tools needed, researches
and/or coordinates with vendors to identify solutions. - Incorporates advanced business processes knowledge in order to address
technical objectives and address all phases of the business process and technical life-cycle. Use industry standards practices driving
innovative solutions that are scalable for rapid growth to meet business needs. - Provides configuration management support.
Develops and/or oversees the build environment, the source code control system and the issue tracking systems. Oversees tests builds,
resolves issues, and communicates build status. Oversees and/or directs building scripts and installation procedures and development and
maintenance of an automated build process with automatic notification of build and unit test failure problems to responsible engineers.
Oversees and/or directs project software and documentation inventory and configuration baselines. - Oversees and/or develops highly
complex monitoring protocols across multiple networks and platforms, including traffic and usage, performance of the system, metric testing,
troubleshooting and identification of metric issues and system optimization for highly complex milti-platform
environments. - Provides guidance and expert knowledge of systems integration for EMR analysis, design, and operations and ensures
security of data, systems, and networks that is used in our clinical operations environment.
