Job Description Summary

The
Accounting Technician, Receivablewill be a member of a diverse team that will process and balance accounts receivable and
invoices for all Third-Party billings. This individual will also be responsible for bookkeeping functions and cashiering
duties.



Minimum Qualifications

Required Qualifications:


  • Associate degree or higher.
    Note: Degrees and hours must be from a college accredited by a United States Department of Education accepted accrediting agency
    such as SACSCOC.
  • Two years of experience in bookkeeping and/or accounting
  • Must possess excellent
    communication and office machine skills and a working knowledge of computer applications/word processing
  • Experience with Microsoft
    Office and/or Google Workspace, spreadsheets, presentation and collaboration apps and software.

Preferred
Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications:


  • Knowledge of community college accounting and budgeting
    procedures
  • Working knowledge of Datatel/Colleague, Microsoft Excel and Word software
  • Associate degree or higher in
    business administration, accounting, or related area

Essential Duties

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND
RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for sponsorship account
    maintenance
  • Receive authorizations, account for and process charges for all third-party students, including tuition and fees,
    bookstore charges, as well as other authorized miscellaneous charges
  • Maintain accounts receivable files, process and invoice all
    third-party billings, including contact with vendors, other departments, and students to ensure accuracy of billing, as well as timely
    collection of billings
  • Prepare monthly reports relating to reimbursement of various funds
  • Reconcile and balance
    accounts
  • Perform cashiering duties as required
  • Maintain and update files for year-end audit
  • Maintain
    confidentiality and security of sensitive information
  • All other duties as assigned

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of
    organization

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:


  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest,
    commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry

REASONING ABILITY:

  • Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written,
    oral, or diagram form
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations

OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES:


  • Working knowledge of computer applications
  • Good communication skills
  • Essential office machine skills
