Position Summary
Provides individual and small group tutoring
sessions in various academic disciplines and integrates study and learning strategies to promote learning; facilitates learning by building
rapport with students as an academic coach or mentor; may assist with the development of training materials, activities and workshops.

- Provides
individual and small-group tutoring sessions, in person and/or online, to support student learning, skill development, and mastery of course
concepts across assigned academic disciplines. - Facilitates student success by serving as an academic coach and mentor, encouraging
independent learning, self-efficacy, and the development of effective academic habits; integrates effective, evidence-based study
strategies, learning techniques, and academic support practices to promote student persistence, engagement and achievement. - Assists
students with the use of institutional technologies and instructional platforms related to their coursework to support academic
success - Maintains accurate records of tutoring sessions and student interactions; monitors student progress and communicates
concerns or trends to supervisors as appropriate. Assists with assessment efforts, including data collection and reporting related to
tutoring services and student outcomes. - Collaborates and communicates regularly with faculty, staff, and colleagues to coordinate
student support services and promote tutoring resources to students and campus partners. Participates in outreach, marketing, and engagement
initiatives to increase awareness and utilization of tutoring services across campuses. - Develops and updates supplemental learning
resources, including handouts, study guides, tip sheets, videos, workshops, and other instructional materials. - Supports inclusive,
equitable, and student-centered learning environments to meet the needs of diverse learners. - Adheres to institutional policies
related to confidentiality (e.g., FERPA) and ethical academic support practices. - Demonstrates initiative in supporting, maintaining,
and improving daily operations and student support services. - Attends scheduled meetings, workshops, trainings, and departmental
activities. - Assists with the development, facilitation, and delivery of tutor training and professional development
activities. - Remains current on best practices, emerging research, and trends in tutoring, learning assistance, and student
success.
Qualifications/Experience

Qualifications
- Associate’s degree with a minimum of 6-9 credit hours in the relevant tutoring discipline (or a closely
related field) and a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher in those courses. - At least one (1) year of relevant academic support, tutoring,
or related experience. - Demonstrated interpersonal skills, including empathy, patience, and strong organizational
abilities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working directly with students to support academic skill
development and learning strategies. - Knowledge of and experience with active learning strategies and tutoring/learning assistance
pedagogies. - Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, as needed; schedule may vary.
Discipline-Specific
Preferences
- Reading Tutors: Degree or coursework in literacy education, reading instruction, or a closely related
field. - EML Tutors (English for Multilingual Learners): Degree or coursework in TESOL, TESL, TEFL, or a closely related
field.
