About the Job


The Floor Lead supports daily operations across
multiple departments within the UMD Stores. The role works with the Computer Corner, general merchandise, course materials, visual display,
customer service, course materials, and eCommerce to assist customers and resolve issues as they arise. As a cross-functional member of the
UMD Stores team, the Floor Supervisor helps ensure an environment of excellent customer service and compliance with policies and procedures
in the store.

Key Accountabilities: Talent (student training), Customer Service, Store Operations (visual
merchandising, promotion setup, markdown processing)


Key Responsibilities
Computer Corner Operations –
50%:

  • Assists the Computer Corner Buyer in the area of sales, reporting/analysis, and warranty and invoice
    processing.
  • Consistently demonstrates awareness of the customer in actions, priorities, and decisions.
  • Visual display of
    Computer Corner floor, windows and product outposts.

Store Operations – 30%:


  • Minimizes inventory loss by training and
    directing the team to effectively provide excellent customer service, maintain a clean and organized store, and thoroughly review policy and
     .
  • Assists with the set up and execution of the annual physical inventory cycle.
  • Ensures execution of UMD Stores
    direction (POS, Visual, HR, Operations, etc.) uses resources appropriately and meets deadlines.
  • Enforces and follows all University
    Policies and Procedures. Responds appropriately to policy and procedural violations and uses HR Resources to follow university
    guidelines.

Talent Management – 10%

  • Provides current, direct, complete, and actionable positive and corrective feedback to
    others ensuring accountability.
  • Accurately appraises the strengths and weaknesses of the student team and coaches associates
    appropriately.
  • Creates and cultivates an environment that allows others to reach their full potential while also fostering a fun and
    rewarding working climate.

Communication – 10%:


  • Communicates any staffing or performance issues to UMD Stores Assistant
    Director
  • Communicate product issues (i.e., fit, quality, damages, etc.) to appropriate Buyer
  • Balance time and efforts across
    Street Level, Lower Level and Express store locations.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • This position has
    indirect supervision of the Student workers.

This position does not offer a STEM OPT training program.



Qualifications


Minimum Qualifications: 

  • BA/BS degree or a combination of related education and work experience to equal at
    least four years.
  • Ability to lead by example, make sound decisions, act on ideas, and demonstrate professionalism.
  • Strong
    interpersonal skills and communication.
  • Demonstrated ability to motivate and challenge a team to achieve results.
  • Diligence
    and the ability to persevere in the face of resistance or setbacks.
  • Growth mindset

Physical/Other
Requirements:


  • Work varied hours/days as business dictates, including periodic weekend shifts.
  • Able to reach, push,
    pull, stand, squat and bend for up to 8 hours or longer as necessary.
  • Able to operate and use all equipment necessary to run the
    store
  • Able to operate computerized register system
  • Able to move or handle merchandise throughout the store weighing up to 50
    pounds

Pay and Benefits



Pay Range: $24.00 – $26.00 per hour; depending on
education/qualifications/experience

Time Appointment: 100% Appointment
