Position Announcement
Parking Attendant and Security Officers play a critical role in parking and security services by providing fair, consistent, objective, concise, accurate, safe parking enforcement, and proactive campus security. Performs parking enforcement, safety and security services and some office duties working 15 – 25 hours per week during the hours of 7:00am – 5:00pm, Monday – Friday. This position will also include event parking attendant duties for some evenings, Saturdays and/or Sundays.
Responsibilities
- Accurate and detailed parking ticket writing, documentation, verification, follow-up, data entry, and trouble reporting.
- Performs basic safety and security while on parking ticket patrol by monitoring for suspicious behavior or activity. Contacts and coordinates with safety and law enforcement officials should the situation require.
- May conduct lockouts and jumpstarts; training provided.
- May perform vehicle immobilization boot placement and documentation.
- Engage with UT employees, students, and the public in a friendly, professional, and respectful manner, always providing the highest ethical and quality service. Must be able to answer a wide variety of questions regarding parking regulations and other campus interests.
- Exercise conflict resolution.
- Alert supervisor to parking, safety, and security issues.
- Ensure safe and security of all records in accordance with University policies and procedures, campus rules, St. George City ordinances, and Utah State Laws, as applicable.
- Uphold confidentiality with Utah Criminal Justice Information System (UCJIS) and University platforms.
- Perform event parking attendant duties; training provided.
- Assist with parking lot signage and closures; ability to operate fleet vehicles when needed.
- Perform other job-related tasks as assigned.
Qualifications
- High School diploma required, and two years’ work experience and/or college education. Associate degree preferred. Parking Enforcement, Criminal Justice, Emergency Services and/or Homeland Security background preferred.
- Driver’s license required; fleet vehicle Defensive Driver training provided.
- Fingerprint background check required.
- Ability to walk or stand for extended periods and work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Ability to lift up to 20 pounds.
- Prior experience in customer service preferred.
- Have good judgement, be trustworthy, ethical, and self-motivated.
- Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
- Strong interpersonal and conflict resolution skills.
- Must be reliable and punctual.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and reports a must.
- Computer skills and ability to operate standard office equipment.
- Basic mathematical skills.
