Job Summary
The Coordinator of First Year Math Experience reports directly to the Chair of the Mathematics Department and is responsible for advancing student success in gateway mathematics courses through coordinated academic support services, data informed decision-making, and cross campus collaboration. This position oversees the math shop and related support initiatives, ensuring alignment with institutional goals for student learning outcomes, retention, and completion. The coordinator collects and analyzes data to assess program effectiveness, supports continuous improvement efforts, and collaborates with faculty and student support units to enhance the first-year mathematics experience. This role contributes to institutional effectiveness by promoting evidence-based practices and equitable student achievement in mathematics.

Essential Job Functions
- Coordinate academic support services by overseeing the math shop operations, including tutor supervision, scheduling, and delivery of academic support aligned with student learning outcomes.
- Collect, analyze, and report program and student performance data to evaluate effectiveness and support continuous improvement and institutional efforts.
- Develop and implement targeted interventions to improve student engagement, retention and success in first and second year mathematics.
- Partner with faculty, advisors, and campus support services to align academic support with curriculum and enhance the first-year student experience.
- Recruit, train, and evaluate tutors to ensure high-quality support services and program operations.
- Ensure FERPA compliance and accurate records management while promoting services and contributing to ongoing assessment and improvement.
Minimum and Desired Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:

- Bachelor’s degree in mathematics, education, higher education administration, or a related field.
- One or more years of relevant experience in higher education, student support services, academic advising, tutoring or program coordination.
Desired Qualifications:
-
- Master’s degree in mathematics, Education, Higher Education, or a related field.
- Experience teaching or supporting college -level mathematics.
- Knowledge of developmental education reform and co-requisite models.
- Experience designing or assessing academic support programs.

Physical Requirements: Able to lift 25 lbs and be able to perform a variety of physical tasks including lifting, bending, stooping, squatting, stair climbing and walking between buildings.
