Job Summary

As part of Purdue University, you will help support the daily operations of a collaborative, service-focused team by providing welcoming and reliable administrative assistance to faculty, staff, students, visitors, and callers. In this role, you will serve as a first point of contact, helping connect people with information, resources, and support while creating a positive experience for those who engage with the department. You will also help keep the office running smoothly by drafting routine correspondence, scheduling appointments and meetings, organizing and maintaining paper and electronic files, distributing mail, preparing copies, and assisting with general office needs. Your attention to detail, professionalism, and commitment to service will help advance Purdue’s mission and support the important work happening across the university.

Under direct supervision, you provide general administrative support for an individual, group of professionals, department, program or other administrative function. Serve as first point of contact. Draft routine correspondence, schedule appointments, organize and maintain paper and electronic files, or provide information to callers and visitors. Assist with various other support functions as needed.

What We’re Looking For:
Education and Experience
Qualified candidates will need:

  • Requires a high school diploma/GED
  • Experience in an administrative support, customer service, or clerical role


Skills needed:

  • Excellent customer service, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Ability to handle frequent interruptions, balance multiple tasks, and maintain confidentiality
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Computer and related software skills to include Word, Outlook, Internet, etc. Typing, drafting, filing, and data entry skills
