Position Description
We are seeking a dynamic individuals to join our team as a Professor in the Valley City State
University Teacher Education at the elementary level. The selected candidate will play a pivotal role in delivering both online and
face-to-face instruction. The primary focus of this role will involve teaching professional education coursework within the elementary
education degree program, encompassing foundational and methodological courses in subjects such as reading, math, social studies, science
and/or special education. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining and updating course content and learning activities
as necessary. Additional responsibilities may include advising students, supervising student teaching experiences, and contributing to the
School of Education projects. This position may involve traveling between Valley City State University and North Dakota State University
campus locations in support of our Elementary Education programs.

  • Other duties may include:
  • Teaching foundational and methods coursework in elementary education.
  • Supervise Student Teachers.
  • Recruiting and
    advising a diverse student population.
  • Engaging in appropriate service in the department, university, and academic community.
  • Participating in professional development in elementary education pedagogy, staying current with relevant course content, and
    working to improve student learning and engagement.

Minimum Qualifications
* Master’s degree in
elementary education, reading, or a closely related field.


Preferred Qualifications

  • A minimum of 5
    years teaching experience in grades K-8.
  • Doctorate degree or extensive graduate coursework enhancing expertise.
  • Commitment to continuous professional development.
  • Demonstrated passion for teaching and learning, with a positive attitude.
  • Strong background in math and literacy instruction, complemented by expertise in elementary content areas.
  • Proven
    track record of implementing innovative teaching strategies.
  • Ability to cultivate productive relationships with students and
    colleagues building a strong culture.
  • Dedication to fostering inclusive and equitable learning environments.

Compensation
The salary for this position is commensurate with qualifications and typically ranges from $47,000 –
$52,000 annually pending experience and qualifications. This position is a 9-month, full-time position. In some cases, summer duties may be
arranged through an additional contract.

institution takes its name. Valley City has a population of approximately 6,500 and is located 60 miles west of Fargo on Interstate 94,
making the campus easily accessible both from the east and west. The location of the community lends itself to cultural and recreational
activities, and the Gaukler Wellness Center offers a variety of services to members including an indoor pool and fitness center.
