Position Summary

The Food Services Coordinator is responsible for supporting the daily coordination, organization, and administrative operations of the College’s food service program. This position assists with meal service planning, vendor coordination, dining hall operations, student meal plan support, inventory tracking, event food service requests, and compliance with institutional policies and health and safety standards.



The Food Services Coordinator serves as a key point of contact between students, employees, dining services staff, vendors, and campus departments to ensure quality service, timely communication, and a positive dining experience for the Lane College community.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities


The Food Services Coordinator will:

  1. Assist with the daily coordination of dining services operations, including meal periods, service flow, staffing communication, and facility readiness.
  2. Serve as a liaison between the College, food service vendors, students, employees, and campus departments regarding food service needs, concerns, and requests.
  3. Monitor dining hall operations to help ensure meals are served in a timely, safe, clean, and professional manner.
  4. Assist with student meal plan coordination, including meal eligibility, access issues, student concerns, and communication with appropriate offices.
  5. Support the planning and coordination of food service for campus events, meetings, special programs, athletic events, and student activities.
  6. Receive, track, and communicate catering or special meal requests to the appropriate food service personnel or vendors.
  7. Maintain records related to meal counts, service requests, inventory, invoices, vendor communications, and other food service documentation.
  8. Assist with monitoring food inventory, supplies, and equipment needs, and communicate shortages or maintenance concerns promptly.
  9. Help ensure compliance with applicable health, sanitation, food safety, and institutional standards.
  10. Respond to student, faculty, staff, and guest concerns in a timely and professional manner, escalating issues as appropriate.
  11. Assist with evaluating food service quality by collecting feedback, monitoring service trends, and recommending improvements.
  12. Coordinate with Facilities, Campus Safety, Student Affairs, Athletics, and other departments as needed to support food service operations.
  13. Assist with onboarding, scheduling communication, and coordination of student workers or part-time staff assigned to food service-related duties, if applicable.
  14. Support budget tracking by reviewing purchase requests, invoices, receipts, and related documentation as assigned.
  15. Maintain confidentiality and professionalism when handling student records, meal plan information, vendor communications, and institutional matters.
  16. Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Skills:
Required Qualifications


The successful candidate must have:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree preferred.
  • Minimum of two years of experience in food service, hospitality, customer service, office coordination, administrative support, or a related area.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and customer service skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, respond to concerns, and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office, email, spreadsheets, and database systems.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with students, employees, vendors, and campus departments.
  • Commitment to providing quality service in a student-centered college environment.

Preferred Qualifications


Preference may be given to candidates who have:

  • Experience in higher education, dining services, hospitality, catering, or campus operations.
  • Knowledge of meal plan administration or food service vendor coordination.
  • Experience working with students in a residential college environment.
  • Knowledge of health, safety, and sanitation standards.
  • ServSafe certification or willingness to obtain certification.

Physical Requirements


This position may require the ability to:

  • Stand, walk, bend, and move throughout dining and service areas.
  • Lift or move items up to 25 pounds occasionally.
  • Work in or around kitchen, dining, storage, and event spaces.
  • Use a computer and office equipment for extended periods.
  • Respond to food service or event needs during regular and occasional nontraditional hours.

Work Environment


The Food Services Coordinator works in an office, dining hall, and campus event environment. The position requires frequent interaction with students, employees, vendors, guests, and campus departments. The role may require occasional evening or weekend work for special events, student activities, or campus programs.
