JOB SUMMARY

The purpose of this position is to support the mission and strategic goals of Dallas
College Foundation by executing accounting operations of the Foundation, including, but not limited to, accounts payable and accounts
receivable, financial reporting, cash/revenue processing and monitoring, supporting audit schedule preparations and other tasks as may be
requested

Essential Duties & Responsibilities


  • Coordinates the development of two public budgets and one private
    non-profit budget within the guidelines, policies and procedures established by the Dallas College and the Dallas College Foundation
    Board.
  • Manages all on-going accounting functions, financial activities and resulting reports for both public and private budgets.
    Analyzes and controls expenditures of all budgeted transactions, ensuring standard and federal regulations and principles for general
    accounting are identified, established, and maintained.
  • Builds and maintains general ledgers and charts of accounts. Prepares
    reconciliations and journal entries, manages accounts payable, and completes month-end and fiscal-end closing of accounting books. Monitors
    legal and tax issues related to nonprofit, fund accounting.
  • Responsible for planning, directing, and administering the accounting
    function for the office. Lead procurement efforts including overseeing Amazon and credit card purchases. Manages the records of all
    contributions including scholarships and grants. Implements and monitors the internal schedule to produce accurate and timely monthly and
    year-end financial and statistical reports.
  • Responsible for preparing complex federal reports including IRS Form 990 (the
    Foundation’s annual tax/information return). Monitors changes in laws, regulations, and reporting requirements. Supports the annual
    independent external audit process.
  • Responsible for the allocation of interest & dividends for Foundation endowments. Investment
    accounting experience preferred.
  • Contributes to the publication of Foundation accounting information. Prepares monthly financial
    statements under the direction of the Sr. Director of Finance and Business Affairs.
  • Oversees the Foundation business insurance plans
    to ensure timeliness and adequacy.
  • Maintains the highest ethical standards and adherence to applicable rules, regulations, policies
    and procedures.
  • Completes required Dallas College professional development training hours per academic year.
  • Provides
    excellent customer service.
  • Required Dallas College Professional Development Hours per Academic Year.
  • All employees are
    required to complete a minimum of 19 hours.
  • People leaders are required to have an additional 16 hours of leadership
    development.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum and Preferred – Education, Experience, and/or
Certifications

Required Qualifications for Role


  • Bachelor’s degree or higher
  • Five (5) years of accounting
    experience in a computerized location.
  • School/Education Transcripts required

Other Preferred Qualifications for Role

  • Experience with Blackbaud Financial Edge preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Required Qualifications for Role


  • Strong knowledge of fund accounting and a thorough working knowledge of the application of general accounting principles,
    especially in a non-profit context and/or a higher education context.
  • A comprehensive understanding of software applications and
    ability to use computer technology to access data, maintain records and generate reports. Experience with current and emerging technologies.
    Experience with Blackbaud Financial Edge preferred.
  • A highly energetic, motivated self-starter with the drive to develop systems
    that ensure proper management and reporting on all aspects of the Foundation’s finances and accounting.
  • Excellent oral and written
    communication skills, ability to effectively interact with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
  • Understands and effectively manages
