predominantly remote with occasional visits to campus as needed. Working hours will be based on Pacific Standard Time (PST). The full salary
range for the Senior Business Analyst is $93,200 – $174,200 annually. However, the pay scale for this position is up to $112,920 annually.
We base salary offers on a variety of considerations, such as education, licensure and certifications, experience, and other business and
organizational needs. Applicants must have current work authorization when accepting a UCR staff position. Currently, UCR is unable to
sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa for staff. As a University employee, you will be required to comply with all
applicable University policies and/or collective bargaining agreements, as may be amended from time to time. Federal, state, or local
government directives may impose additional requirements.

- Bachelor’s degree in related area and/or equivalent
experience/training.
Experience
- Minimum of 1 – 3 years of experience with the development lifecycle
- 6 – 10 years of related experience.
- Minimum of 1 – 3 years of experience with test automation frameworks such as
Playwright, and API testing tools such as Postman - Minimum of 1 – 3 years of experience with Higher Education
- Minimum of 1
– 3 years of experience with Student Information Systems - Minimum of 1 – 3 years of experience with AI-based test generation or
self-healing test platforms and prompt-based development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Claude, or similar).

Serving as a senior-level analyst, technical leader, and primary technical contact, the Senior Business Systems
Analyst supports the UC Office of the President (UCOP) Systemwide Statement of Legal Residency Determination (SLR) project. Operating under
general direction, the incumbent reports directly to the Associate Director, Campus Integrated Applications. In this role, the position is
responsible for collaborating closely with UCOP partners and stakeholders across UC campuses to define business challenges, as well as
elicit, analyze, and document highly complex business requirements. The incumbent works with these business partners to confirm project
scope, understand work priorities, coordinate deliverables, and establish timelines, ultimately formulating appropriate process and IT
solutions while delivering recommendations for improvement. The Analyst partners daily with the project’s software engineer and project
manager to translate business needs into functional specifications, user stories, and acceptance criteria to guide design, development, and
testing. The position also champions modern quality assurance practices, including AI-assisted test automation integrated into CI/CD
pipelines, and coordinates as needed to ensure solutions are thoroughly tested, well-defined, and fully aligned with campus and UC
systemwide objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Applies advanced business analysis concepts to identify, evaluate
and define highly complex systems scope and objectives based on advanced knowledge of applicable business practices, processes and systems
and industry standards to meet end-user needs. Works at the highest technical level of various phases of systems analysis. Considers the
business implications of applying technology to the current and future business environment. - Responsible to liaise with
stakeholders, execute communication plan and keep all undergraduate campuses aware and informed of project progress and impacts. Develops
User Acceptance Testing scenarios. Communicates technical information in a clear and concise manner. Integrate automated test suites into
CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins, or Azure DevOps) to enable continuous testing, early defect detection, and
reliable release quality. Establish test coverage standards, defect triage processes, and quality metrics; evaluate and recommend testing
tools and AI capabilities appropriate for the campus environment. Develop test plans, scripts, and reference materials; coordinate and
support user acceptance testing (UAT) with functional offices. - Initiates, designs or modifies highly complex systems and
procedures where standardized policies or procedures may or may not exist. Creates highly technical specifications for systems with broad
impact at a campus/medical center/OP or within a large organization. Develops unit integration and acceptance testing plans and scenarios.
May lead cross-functional teams to address complex business or systems issues. - Establishes or maintains system documentation
standards. Schedules and conducts analysis sessions. Documents ownership, custody and access requirements for systems subject areas. Design,
implement, and maintain automated testing strategies for enterprise applications and integrations, including functional, regression, and
user acceptance testing. Leverage AI-assisted tools and platforms (e.g., generative AI coding assistants, AI-based test generation and
self-healing test frameworks) to accelerate the creation, execution, and maintenance of test cases and test data. - Initiates,
facilitates, implements and documents work process changes. Prepares and approves or obtains approval for business process and procedural
documentation. Initiates and oversees changes in processes and procedures. Sets the technical requirements for complex
specifications. - Writes and develops full business requirements documentation for a multi-campus, highly complex solution. Works
closely with the application architects and developers in the development and creation of project tasks and backlog items. Consults with
stakeholders to document business requirements. - Performs highly complex analysis of business and user needs, documentation of
requirements and translation into proper system and process requirement specifications. Provides advanced support and training on new
applications. Mentors experienced Business Systems Analysts and may lead a team of business analyst professionals. - Executes,
verifies and ensures data management processes are followed to sustain the integrity of the data. Monitors system processes and coordinates
efforts to ensure issues are resolved.
